Following the principles: distill, temper, clarify. These small images are actually distillations of the larger paintings and drawings. They are a response to accumulation of marks, the “pockets of intensity” that occur throughout the work. Each individual piece measures 4.5” x 6.70”. Each is a small “poem” in and of itself. Sometimes they are placed in groups or series of 3, 4 or even 24. I also have them in “editions”. Handmade boxes covered in silk and Japanese paper and bound with hand-colored twine in muted tones. They are meant to be taken out of the box and rearranged in whatever manner the viewer sees fit. This is an ongoing series that springs from my need to constantly distill, temper, clarify all information that falls into my hands be it an image or a text.
